Walker County deputies arrest man for setting a church on fire

LAFAYETTE, Georgia(WDEF) – Walker County deputies have arrested a man whom they say set a church on fire after wrecking a stolen vehicle.

Brandon Harris, 20, of Georgia has been charged with arson, motor vehicle theft, burglary and probation violation.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Harris wrecked a stolen vehicle near Round Pond Road and Old Ringgold Road. After the wreck, he reportedly broke into Sunnyside Baptist Church where he reportedly set multiple fires.

According to the State Fire Marshall’s Office, the church sustained considerable fire, smoke and water damage.
