Walker County K-9 of the Year

ROSSVILLE, Georgia (WDEF)-Imagine getting to go to work every day with your best friend.

Well, that’s what it’s like for Leonard Schrader with the Walker County Sheriff’s office.

His K-9 and best friend Anzo was just awarded K-9 of the year in Georgia.

The award comes allows the K-9 unit in Walker County to grow and it shows the love and bond between Schrader and Anzo.

“I think everybody has a great appreciation for what he does and for what he brings to the table for the sheriff’s office. All the dogs in Georgia are placed on the canine foundation’s website to be voted on by the public and Anzo was chosen. It was a great benefit for our canine program we’re trying to grow the program. The monetary value for all the equipment they gave us was $2500 worth of equipment of our choosing to help grow our canine unit,” said Schrader.
