West Polk Schools Dismiss Early due to Water Problems

POLK COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- West Polk Co. Schools was dismissed early this afternoon because of issues with the water. County clerk has verified all students will be going back to school tomorrow.

According to County officials, the water issue originated in the cafeteria where employees couldn’t serve lunch due to bad plumbing where there was dirty water flowing in the sinks and some of it bursting through through the floors.

School officials dismissed all West Polk schools which includes: Polk County High, Chilhowee Middle,  Benton Elementary, and South Polk Elementary.

The early dismissal affected over 1,500 students in the area.

County Officials assure that the pipes will be clear by the morning and the school system will be working on solutions to fix any further problems.
