Whitfield County employees make take-home meals for senior citizens
WHITFIELD COUNTY — On Tuesday, April 21st, Whitfield County employees volunteered with the Senior Center to assist with the preparation of take-home meals.
They say a total of 31 grocery bags were filled, each containing ingredients for four shelf-stable meals to extend food access for seniors beyond their daily lunch at the center.
They share the program is funded through the Senior Hunger Innovation Grant that supports initiatives aimed at reducing food insecurity among adults age 60 and older.
Utilizing the dietician from the UGA Extension Office, the meals were developed to include balanced portions of protein and nutrients.
