Whitfield County Public Works proud of new pothole patcher machine
Dalton, GA (WDEF) – Whitfield County wants to make your commute a bit smoother, thanks to a new pothole patcher.
Whitfield County Public Works Director DeWayne Hunt and his crew recently showed off just what the innovative machine can do.
There are 718 miles of roads in Whitfield County.
The machine works by spraying tar into a recycled asphalt mixture that’s heated to 300 degrees by underneath burners.
A door on the back of the patcher allows the heated asphalt to drop into the pothole and then workers use machines to tamp the asphalt down so that it’s even with the old pavement around the hole.
