Woman Arrested for Chemical Endangerment of a Child
DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has received a report of a woman that tested positive on multiple occasions during her pregnancy.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris states that during the investigation it was found that 24-year-old Jessica Marie Coker, of Henagar, had used methamphetamine during her pregnancy. She delivered on August 23rd.
Coker was arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
Chief Edmondson says “I want to thank our investigators for doing a great job working with DHR and the hospital staff on this investigation. We are also thankful that the baby will make a full recovery. DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has a zero tolerance for mothers who use illegal substances while pregnant”.
The child is expected to be make a full recovery.
