Woodcraft hosts pen turning workshop for Veterans Day

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Service members overseas will have some nice pens to write home with, thanks to some crafty Scenic City residents.

Some people stopped by Woodcraft today to make wooden pens to give to the troops overseas.

They call it “Turning For The Troops.”

Last year, the Nashville store made more than one-thousand pens.

These turners say they love giving back to veterans.

“A lady that’s here turning right now said that in Atlanta where she used to live, that a Colonel came by and said that he was actually there when the pens came in Afghanistan, and they actually came from the Atlanta store, so he came to thank them for that. I thought that was really nice,” says Bill LaRoque with Woodcraft.
