Woodmore Fund concludes distributions

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The United Way of Greater Chattanooga announced Friday that the distributions from Woodmore Fund have concluded after providing more than $500,000 for the families of the Woodmore bus crash.

Donations for the Fund came from the Chattanooga community and beyond.

The Fund took its last contributions on December 31st, and now all funds have been distributed.

According to the United Way of Greater Chattanooga, the immediate families of the children involved in the crash received a disbursement from the fund. The United Way said a second disbursement provided additional help to families who lost children or whose children were hospitalized.

Woodmore Fund spokesperson and Community Foundation board member Lakweshia Ewing said, “The Fund is just one example of the sheer outpouring of love, concern and support the greater Chattanooga community has shown to the families as they continue to deal with this tragedy. In addition to contributions to the Fund, dozens of individuals and local businesses have also come forward during the past several weeks to offer up resources and support to the families through this difficult time.”

The Woodmore Fund was coordinated by the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga and the United Way of Greater Chattanooga.
