World Rally coming to Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Scenic City might be the next location to host the World Rally Championship happening in 2024.

This would be the first WRC event in the U.S. in 35 years.

Chattanooga will host Rally Tennessee, which is a two part series.

A demonstration event will happen in April, and a test match is scheduled for September.

“We do have this type of adventurous spirit, if you will, and I think this race really compliments that,” said President and CEO of the Chattanooga Tourism Co. “The more time we spent evaluating it, just seemed to be the right fit for us and we’re very excited to be pursuing it.”

Rallying is a competition where street-legal cars race on roads usually used for everyday driving.

Hosting this event is expected to bring $34 million into our economy.

This would be the most economically impactful event Chattanooga has ever seen.
