Wreck snaps power for thousands of customers in east Tennessee
DECATUR, Tennessee (WDEF) – A crash this afternoon in Meigs County knocked out power for thousands of customers.
It happened on Highway 58 north above Decatur after 3 PM.
Two pickup trucks collided, but they managed to take out a main power line.
Volunteer Energy Cooperative reported that the line took out around 2,400 meters in both Meigs and Roane Counties.
In a Facebook post, they said “A double circuit pole is broken and should take 6-8 hours to repair.”
By 8PM, almost two thousand homes were still without power in Roane County, but most of the Meigs customers were back online.
