#YahooFest2018 features dozens of authors at Chattanooga State Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Dozens attended a young adult literature festival at Chattanooga State Saturday.

#YahooFest2018 was hosted by the Southern Lit Alliance and the Chattanooga State’s Writers at work.

News 12 spoke with Joel Henderson about the inspiration behind this inaugural event.

Henderson says, “This is a joint venture between the Southern Lit Alliance and Chattanooga State’s Writers @ Work program. We have a shared mission of bringing literary arts experiences to Chattanoogans so this was our attempt to reach out to young readers across the city and across the metro area.

There were panel discussions, workshops and opportunities for writers to sign their books from 9 am to 5 pm.

“I hope for people who are avid readers that this is a chance for them to meet their favorite authors and for those who are just only slightly interested this is was sort of a fan the flame for them,” says Henderson.
