Youth and Injuries Make For Tough Start to Vols Spring Practice

With injuries and plenty of youth, spring drills have gotten off to a rocky start on Rocky Top.
Head coach Butch Jones likely feels like a spring drills sergeant.
He admits the team needs to show a lot of improvement in a lot of areas.
"We are completely a work in progress right now. We are in no way step or form a finished product. We are nowhere where we need to be. We have to get a lot better in a hurry. Some of it is conditioning. Some of it is mental conditioning. A lot of our younger players are learning how to fight through the fatigue. They have not learned that yet. A lot of time we talk about toughness and technique. And right now, we’re losing our toughness with our technique. They’re letting the mind control everything."
