Bright School donates 225 gallons of milk to at risk students
The Bright School, in partnership with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, distributed 225 gallons of fresh milk to East Side Elementary School students at risk of hunger Thursday.
The gallon of milk was in addition to the regular 30 pounds of food each child receives monthly at the Food Bank’s East Side Elementary School mobile pantry.
According to statistics gathered by Feedingamerica.org in 2013, 57,000 people in Hamilton County are considered to be food insecure, with the average cost of a meal being just less than three dollars.
In total, The Bright School donated $900 to be used for milk distribution at East Side Elementary School and through other Food Bank programs.
