Sporting Goods Store Raises Money for Kids with Cancer

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A local sporting goods store is raising money for a good cause.

Volunteers with the Austin Hatcher Foundation cooked up bratwursts in front of Bass Pro Shop Saturday afternoon for hungry customers.

Money raised will benefit the foundation, which supports child cancer patients and their families.

These volunteers had already raised about $200 by mid-afternoon.

“It’s one of my favorite things to do,” said volunteer Samantha Maragnano. “Austin Hatcher here has kind’ve been our local philanthropy for awhile, and the people are great, and the cause is one of my favorite causes. I want to work with children when I get older, so being able to give back to them, just any way that we can has kind’ve been really fun and exciting.”

Money from Saturday’s fundraiser will go toward upcoming events for the Austin Hatcher Foundation.

It’s funded solely by donations.
