60-Year-Old Man is Burned After House Catches Fire

Chattanooga, Tenn. (WDEF) – A 60-year-old man is suffering from 2nd degree burns tonight after his house went up in flames shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Chattanooga firefighters responded to the man’s home on 6th Ave., where they found most of the fire on the back porch. Fire crews attacked the flames aggressively, and managed to put them out in about five minutes.

The homeowner, who has not been identified, suffered from 2nd degree burns to both of his forearms. He was quickly transported to Erlanger Medical Center by EMS.  Officials don’t believe his injuries are life-threatening.

The cause of fire is currently under investigation.
