TECH BYTE: Leave Video Voice Messages with iOS 17
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Apple is out with another software update.
The tech company says iOS 17 makes the iPhone more personal and intuitive.
Apple is calling its latest software update an upgrade to users’ communications experience.
Thanks to Apple, a voicemail is no longer just your voice.
With iOS 17, you can now leave a video voicemail.
This feature allows you to leave both audio and video messages while using FaceTime.
You can do this when the person you try to FaceTime doesn’t pick up.
And speaking of voice messages, there are also improvements to your iPhone’s regular voicemail.
Live Voicemail lets you see a real-time transcription of someone leaving you a voice message.
It also gives you a chance to pick up while the caller is leaving that message.
As for text messages, Apple says iOS 17 will make searching your texts more precise with more filters.
The new Check In feature allows you to notify a family member or friend when you’ve safely made it to your destination.
And autocorrect is even improved for more accuracy when typing, and fixing grammatical mistakes.
Sharing content is now easier than ever with AirDrop.
With its new NameDrop feature, users can share their contact information by bringing their iPhones together, or an iPhone and Apple Watch together.
With that same gesture, users can share content, listen to music, watch a movie, or play a game when their iPhones are close to each other.
And last but not least, there’s Standby mode.
This new feature lets you glance at information on your phone, at a distance, when it’s charging.
Like most anything else with Apple, you can even personalize the display.
Apple says these new software features will be available this fall on iPhone Xs and later.
