Money from Luther’s DVD sales goes to McKamey Animal Center

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – The late Luther Masingill was always known for helping animals and that legacy lived on thanks to $550 donation to McKamey Animal Center.

They money came from the DVD sales of "Remembering Luther," an in-depth look into the life of Luther Masingill.  Luther was a broadcast legend who made it his personal mission to reunite lost  pets with their owner.

"I think everybody appreciates everything that he did. There’s not a day that goes by that someone doesn’t tell a story about how he answered their call when they lost an animal or found an animal; and he helped to locate their pet for them," said McKamey Executive Director Jamie McAloon.

Moments after Mcaloon accepted the check from WDEF Weather Anchor Chip Chapman, she told WDEF the money will be put to good use.

"The money is going into a special fund that really helps a lot of the projects we do in the the community. Those projects help people be better pet owners and provide them with services or resources that they don’t have access to."

To honor Luther, Mckamey will hold a free micro-chipping day on March 20th from noon to 4pm.

"Where hoping that a lot of people microchip their pets and that’s a great way to honor a man who was all about finding animals and getting them back to their owner," McAloon said.
