Grand opening at new East Ridge animal shelter

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – Thursday, September 26th, the city will hold the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the new Animal Shelter.

Construction of the new animal shelter in East Ridge is now complete and city officials are inviting the public to join them for the celebration of the grand opening.

The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be booming with smiling faces, wagging tales, and delicious refreshments starting at 10am.

East Ridge Mayor Brian William says, “We are so excited for the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of our new Animal Shelter. The new facility is designed with the comfort and well-being of our animals as a top priority…”

The all new and larger 4,850 square foot building features so many great amenities.

There are 30 dog kennels with outside runs and drains for ease of cleaning, each having a self-watering feature.

The walls and floors of the shelter have a polymer coating that can withstand pressure washing.

And there will be access to larger than life play yards for every pet.

East Ridge Police Chief Clint Uselton says, “We’re really stressing opening volunteer positions for the people that want to come out and help as far as the care for animals. They can take them for walks, interact with the staff, but it would assist our staff and our animals here for it to grow more volunteer base.”

The shelter aims to provide a welcoming environment where every furry friend has plenty of room to live their best life during their stay.

The building is located at 5302 Stone Street in East Ridge and the event will begin at 10am with light refreshments being served.

We hope this new shelter helps our furry friends settle in, while waiting for their forever home.
