Man arrested after motorcycle chase and drug discovery
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A traffic stop attempt on Tuesday afternoon resulted in a brief pursuit and a man facing multiple charges.
At approximately 12:20 p.m. on May 20, 2025, a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy spotted a motorcycle with a bent license plate in the 1900 block of Cummings Highway.
The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the rider refused to stop, leading deputies on a chase through several parking lots.
The suspect eventually lost control of the motorcycle after hitting a wet patch on St. Elmo Avenue and crashed.
He then fled on foot, but was quickly caught by deputies.
The driver was later identified as Christopher McMahan.
According to HCSO, McMahan was found carrying a backpack containing a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine, mushrooms, and a syringe.
McMahan faces the following charges:
- Improper Display of Registration
- Unlawful Removal of Registration
- Felony and Misdemeanor Evading
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Additional charges are pending
He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be booked into the Hamilton County Jail upon release.
