Woman dead in Amnicola Highway crash

UPDATE: Chattanooga Police have confirmed a 60 year old woman is dead following Tuesday afternoon’s crash on Amincola Highway.

Police say that a 60 year old woman was driving a Chevrolet Captiva erratically in the northbound lane when she sideswiped a tractor trailer, and then crashed head on into a passenger van.

She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the van are being treated for injuries.

Amincola Highway was reopened late Tuesday afternoon.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A crash involving two vehicles on Amnicola Highway resulted in the road being closed.

The affected area extends from Wisdom Street to Lost Mound Drive.

Both vehicles are completely disabled, and the Chattanooga Police Department says to take alternate routes and avoid the area.

Police are out redirecting traffic.

Amnicola Highway is expected to remain closed until at least 5:30 pm.
