tnAchieves needs more mentors by Friday deadline

Each county has a target for the number of mentors they need

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The tnAchieves program still needs mentors to work with high schoolers by their deadline on Friday.

They still need 600 volunteers across the state.

tnAchieves matches volunteers from our communities with students who have signed up for the college scholarship program.

“Mentors play an important part in ensuring students have the support necessary to take their next steps from high school to college or college to career,” said tnAchieves Director of Mentors, Baylor Atkins. “Mentors help Build Tennessee’s Future Workforce by breaking down barriers for students and helping students to achieve their goals while also ensuring that the workforce of tomorrow thrives.”

If you volunteer, tnAchieves will train you.

Then you commit one hour a month to meet with a small group of students virtually.

They have already said they want to be mentored.

Each county in our area has a target for how many mentors they need.

Right now, the greatest need is in Bradley, Hamilton and McMinn Counties.

Grundy County has already hit their number.

Marion, Sequatchie, Polk and Rhea only need one or two more people.

Check out the website to see what your county needs and how to sign up.
