Bridge inspection prompts lane closures on I-24 in Marion County
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will conduct a routine inspection of the Holman J. Walker Bridge, which carries I-24 over the Tennessee River near the rest area in Marion County.
The work will take approximately five days to complete.
They say this bridge requires a hands-on inspection of specific steel members.
Specialized equipment will be used to access these areas, making temporary lane closures necessary for the safety of workers and drivers, according to TDOT.
· June 22–25 – The right lane and shoulder of I-24 East will be closed daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time for the full length of the bridge.
· June 26 – The right lane and shoulder of I-24 West will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time for the full length of the bridge.
