Vols Hold on to Beat ETSU

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Detrick Mostella sank a tiebreaking corner 3-pointer from in front of the Tennessee bench with 1:01 remaining Tuesday to give the Volunteers a 76-67 victory over East Tennessee State.
Mostella matched a career high with 17 points and put Tennessee (6-5) ahead for good in a game that featured eight ties and 10 lead changes, all in the second half.
ETSU (5-6) erased a 10-point, second-half deficit and led with less than three minutes left before fading down the stretch. Tennessee ended the game on a 9-0 run as ETSU missed eight of its last nine shots.
Ge’Lawn Guyn led ETSU with 22 points and A.J. Merriweather added  11. Armani Moore had 14, Kevin Punter had 13 and Robert Hubbs had 11 for Tennessee.
This game marked the return of ETSU coach Steve Forbes to Knoxville. Forbes was an assistant at Tennessee for five seasons during Bruce Pearl’s coaching tenure.
