East Ridge PD investigating suspicious package left after bank robbery

EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – East Ridge police are investigating a bank robbery where a suspicious package was left outside the building, causing police to shut down Ringgold Road for over an hour.

ER Bank RobberyOfficers were called to the First Tennessee Bank non Ringgold Road just after 1;30 p.m. Wednesday.

When officials arrived they discovered a suspicious package that was left outside the building.

ERPD Chief J.R. Reed said he called in the Chattanooga Police Department’s Bomb Squad as a precautionary measure.

Bomb squad technicians detonated the suspicious package on scene.

Chief Reed said his department is coordinating with the FBI on the incident.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene wearing a yellow reflective vest riding a pink bicycle.
