Vols Prepare For Wildcats ‘Wildcat’ Formation
With all the injuries Tennessee has suffered along their defensive line, you have to wonder if the Vols might be vulnerable against Kentucky’s Wildcat formation.
The Cats have been dangerous this year when they utilize the direct snap.
Thanks to the Wildcat formation, Kentucky is fifth in the SEC in rushing offense.
In their last two games, they’ve gained nearly 250-yards when they direct snap the football, and they’ve scored four touchdowns.
Said Vols linebacker Darrin Kirkland, Jr:”They have great balance between both of their running backs number 18 and 26. They do a great job of complementing each other.”
Said defensive lineman LaTroy Lewis:”The wildcat. We know that’s a big part of what they do. We’ve been practicing all week. We’re excited to rise to the occassion and to stop it. It’s a challenge for us. Any great defense you want to be challenged.”
The Vols have moved offensive lineman Charles Mosley to the defensive line in practice this week.
Mosley is what you call a ‘Big Cat’. He’s listed at 340-pounds.
