Alhambra Shriners Help Local Children

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) – Thanks to a unit of the Alhambra Shriners, a new hospital van was recently purchased.

It will take children from Chattanooga to Shriners Hospitals in Lexington, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio.It’s just a wonderful day. Our hillbilly unit over the years have contributed to Alhambrah Shrine’s transportation fund a quarter of a million dollars and it’s just a honor to be here to accept this new van."

Organizers say all the money raised by the Hillbilly unit goes to transportation and Shriners hospitals.

The hillbilly unit of the Alhambra Shriners sold enough candy and corn meal to buy the van.

Organizers say all the rides to and from the hospitals will be free.

Marshall Raines with the Alhambra Shriners, adds, "It’s just a wonderful day. Our hillbilly unit over the years have contributed to Alhambrah Shrine’s transportation fund a quarter of a million dollars and it’s just a honor to be here to accept this new van."
