Another Stevenson Alabama police chief faces criminal charges

STEVENSON, Ala. (AP) – The city of Stevenson’s interim police chief is facing criminal charges in Etowah County.

Media outlets report that 48-year-old Roy Hester Hollis was arrested Feb. 17 on a third-degree domestic violence charge. His arrest is related to an incident that occurred in November 2015.

The Stevenson Police Department had no comment on the matter.

Hollis took over as police chief for Daniel Winters, who was out on administrative leave after being federally indicted in January. Those charges relate to an incident in March of 2015 where a man said two Stevenson police officers and employees at a funeral home assaulted him because they thought he burglarized the funeral home.
