Cancer Institute Groundbreaks in Dalton
DALTON (WDEF) – Groundbreaking ceremonies were held yesterday for the beginning of construction on Hamilton Medical Center’s state-of-the-art cancer institute in Dalton.
It’s the latest step to create a cancer center near the corner of Broadrick and Memorial drives.
It will be named in honor of local philanthropists Willena and Shelby Peeples.
Hospital officials say they “provided a significant legacy gift toward the development of the cancer institute.”
Volunteers so far have raised 9.1 million dollars.
The new center will include a medical oncology clinic, along with radiation, breast and diagnostic imaging services.
