CBS coverage of the 1970 eclipse from Valdosta, Georgia

VALDOSTA, Georgia (WDEF) “The eclipse of the century” swept across Florida, southern Georgia and just off the east coast in 1970.

Unfortunately, bad weather kept it from living up to the hype.

Here are two clips from CBS’s coverage with Charles Kuralt.

Go to the 8:30 mark of the first clip for the Valdosta live shot, which continues into the 2nd clip.

They couldn’t see the sun, but the total darkness was still eerie.
