Chattanooga pastor invited to Super Bowl

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Chattanooga pastor was picked to lead the Los Angeles Rams in a team devotion before the big game on Sunday.

Inside Redemption to the Nations Church, Senior Pastor Kevin Wallace is used to connecting with church members.

“Get back to Jesus. He is the center of it all and he is the center of your joy. Say, ‘Amen,’ church,” Pastor Wallace said at a recent service.

On Sunday, he will inspire people on a new stage, the Super Bowl. He will be leading the Los Angeles Rams in a team family devotion before the big game. He first met the players in September.

“So I connected with the L.A. Rams organization because we have a hometown hero, Jacques McClendon, who played football at Baylor. He is now working in the front office of the L.A. Rams organization and when my wife and I went to L.A. for our anniversary he invited me to do a chapel then. And that is when I first got connected and met some of the players then and had an amazing time,” Pastor Wallace said.

Back then, he knew they would go far.

“I told them then, you are going to go to the Super Bowl and when you get to Atlanta remember me and I got the phone call and text this past week,” he recalled.

He wants to make the most of this opportunity.

“I want to encourage them. I want to tell them they have a purpose. I want them to know beyond the glitz and the glamour of the Super Bowl that every one of them has a role to fulfill and a purpose to fulfill and I want to speak into their lives and encourage them and build them up and hopefully they will storm the field and beat the patriots. That is the plan,” Pastor Wallace said.

Pastor Wallace is grateful for this chance to represent his church and the City of Chattanooga.

“We are prayerful that God will do something meaningful in our time together,” he said.

Pastor Wallace will leave early Sunday for Atlanta. His time with the team will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
