Chattanooga woman shot to death after leaving night club

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – Police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting that killed one woman and injured two other people.

It happened around 2:30 in a parking lot in the 1900 block of Market Street.

Police say when they arrived on scene, they found a deceased female who suffered from gunshot wounds.

Officers found a second gunshot victim who was injured and had to be taken to the hospital. That person has been identified as Dominiqick Fitch, 21. Her injuries are considered non-life threatening.

A third victim identified as Darrell Armour Jr., 24,  arrived at the hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

WDEF caught up Howard Akins who was teary-eyed at the scene where the shooting occurred. He said his granddaughter, Jasmine Akins, 19, of Chattanooga was the woman who was killed.

According to the Grandfather, Akins was leaving the Chocolate City Lounge and had crossed the street into a parking lot where the shooting occurred.  He said he found out about the shooting when his son called him in the early morning.

"I know it had to be something that happened because there is no way he would call me that time of morning. He told me his daughter was gone. He said my baby is gone. Man. It’s a hurting feeling. It’s a hurting feeling. They need to try to curtail this violence," said Howard Akins.

According to the victim’s grandfather, Jasmine Akins recently became a mother.
