Clean Up Begins after Monday Evening’s EF-1 Tornado in Ringgold

(WDEF) The cleanup after Monday evening’s EF-1 tornado means neighbors helping neighbors in this Ringgold subdivision.
Peter Cutt lives in Callaway Farms.  He said, "It’s a close knit town and a close knit neighborhood and it’s just very gratifying to live amongst such nice people and we’ve been out trying to help but you know I had a whole mess of my own to clean up but now I’m going to see there’s anyone else that I can help."
Chris Williams owns a small construction company.  He said, "There’s a lot of good people in the Catoosa County area that have really , you know, jumped into action.  It’s just surprising to see all of these people out here today."
Williams lives just a few miles away from where the most recent tornado struck.  He came to the neighborhood to help out a friend, but then stuck around to make sure everyone was taken care of.
Williams added, "The little lady across the street was asking us to help her and, you know, I mean, what we’ll charge her won’t even cover our materials but it’s not about making money.  It’s about helping, you know, neighbors and family out."
The American Red Cross also stepped in to help the Callaway Farm families.
Gordon Hall works with the Chattanooga chapter of the Salvation Army,  He said, "We’ve been serving coffee and biscuits and sausage this morning to the families affected by the wind damage."
But most people remember the last time Ringgold cleaned up from a tornado…  And realize they were lucky this time around.
Hall added, "There were no injuries.  Everyone is doing well and they’re staying safe in their house."
Cutt said, "After what we went through a few years ago I think it’ll be relatively quick.  And this is such a small isolated thing compared to the one in 2011 I think it was, so we’ll be fine."
Officials remind you to stay out of the affected areas at this time, unless you’re helping with the clean up.
