Committee files complaint on UT College of Medicine

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine announced that they plan to file a federal complaint today against University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

The group claims the college illegally uses live animals for medical training.

They say using live animals at UT’s College of Medicine Violates Federal Law.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is a national nonprofit of 12 thousand physicians.

They believe that alternative training methods are widely used.

They think those other methods should be accepted as superior to animal use in three of the schools training programs.

They also say the UT’s College of Medicine is failing to provide a modern medical education.
