CPD Increases Patrol this Weekend to Investigate Multiple Shootings

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Authorities are on high alert, after three different shootings were reported Saturday. Two of which, are believed to be linked to last week’s fatal shooting at the Sky Zoo Night Club.

The victim that night was Robert Jackson, III, who according to Chattanooga Police was also believed to be a well known gang member.

In the two cases that are believed to be linked, one man was shot while walking his dog on E. 27th St., while another victim was shot in the leg on Taylor St. And according to Chief Fred Fletcher, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon, more than more than six different calls for shots fired were made to 9-1-1, which has caused a dire need for heavy police presence

“We will not accept this in our town,” said Chief Fletcher, “We have increased patrols. We have overtime officers in hot-spots. We have specialized officers being reassigned. We have officers you will not see out there looking for the people driving this violence.”
