CPD vehicle struck on I-24 Sunday morning

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Early Sunday morning, a traffic crash at mile 178 on I-24 West caused delays in both directions.

According to Chattanooga Police, a marked CPD vehicle was legally parked and unoccupied on the right shoulder of the interstate while a CPD officer was investigating a prior crash.

CPD says a Chevy Tahoe lost control, struck a concrete wall, and then struck the CPD vehicle.

CPD says the officer on the scene gave aid to the driver of the Chevy Tahoe who was then taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer was not injured in the incident.

According to police, roads were slick at the time of the crash.
