DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A Dalton man arrested for domestic violence ends up in even more trouble after authorities say he purposely tried to smuggle a 6 inch knife into the Whitfield county jail.

Late last night, 36-year old Deandre Hines was brought to the jail after he was arrested for domestic violence.

During the intake process, he was asked if he had anything on him that could injure someone inside the jail.

He said he didn’t.

But when deputies physically searched him, they found a knife more than 6 inches long inside his sock.

When asked about knife, he reportedly said he had it to protect himself because he wasn’t from the area.
