Dogs that killed a Sand Mountain woman are euthanized
SCOTTSBORO, Alabama (WDEF) – Four dogs involved in a fatal mauling back in December on Sand Mountain have been euthanized.
The dogs attacked two women on County Road 121, west of Rainsville, Alabama.
24 year old Emily Colvin was killed and the other woman seriously injured.
One dog also attacked a deputy and was shot.
Deputies described them all as pit bulls.
The dogs were captured and a judge ruled they were dangerous and should be put down.
The period to appeal the order expired Monday.
The dogs were killed this morning.
In a statement, Assistant District Attorney Brent Benson said “It is my hope and prayer that this brings some amount of closure for the victims and their families so they can begin to heal from this horrible tragedy.”
