Suspect arrested in East Ridge after chase

EAST RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The police chase from Fort Oglethorpe to East Ridge started with a misunderstanding.

Catoosa County deputies got the call about a carjacking in progress around 11 AM.

They chased the suspect vehicle that witnesses called in up Mack Smith Road into Tennessee.

The suspect then turned onto Ringgold Road and crashed.

The drive then fled on foot toward Camp Jordan.

Hamilton County deputies chased him down.

They say the suspect was armed, but apparently lost his gun in the creek.

But after the arrest, investigators learned the suspect knew the people he got the car from.

What witnesses reported as a carjacking, was not.

But the suspect will face charges from the chase.
