East Ridge Police find drugs in unusual location

EAST RIDGE, Tennessee(WDEF) –  A police traffic stop in the 4100 block of Ringgold Road leads to the discovery of illegal drugs in an unusual location.

Torrrie Porter, 22, of East Ridge is facing multiple drug charges after East Ridge Police located marijuana, Xanax pills and cocaine inside a vehicle he was driving.  According the arresting officers, the drugs were hidden inside the fuse box under the front hood of the car.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, Porter was pulled over in a 2007 Volkswagen Passat for playing his music too loud. He reportedly told the officer the car belonged to his girlfriend. He then gave the officer his license which turned out to be suspended.

The officer began to search the vehicle after smelling marijuana. When the officer couldn’t find anything in the cabin area of the vehicle, he turned on the ignition then activated the air conditioner. According to the officer, the smell of marijuana was coming through the air vents.

The officer popped the hoof of the car where he noticed the a strange smell of marijuana coming from engine area. Then he checked the fuse box where he found the illegal drugs.

Porter was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
