Fishing Death In Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say a Tennessee man has died after falling off a boat while fishing on a lake.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says it determined through interviews that 56-year-old Danny Michael Pitts lost his balance Monday morning while trying to hook a fish and fell into Percy Priest Lake near the Jefferson Springs Recreation Area without a life jacket on.

The agency says another person in the boat threw Pitts flotation devices and turned the boat back to attempt a rescue, but Pitts disappeared underwater. Later that afternoon, authorities found Pitts using side-scan sonar and Rutherford County Fire Rescue divers made a recovery shortly after.
