Flood Warning issued for South Chickamauga Creek, Flood Watch still in effect

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The National Weather Service in Morristown, TN issued a Flood Warning for the South Chickamauga Creek affecting Catoosa and Hamilton Counties Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon.
         Light to moderate rainfall will continue throughout the overnight hours with an additional 2 to 3 inches of rain possible. This prolonged rainfall will cause minor flooding along area rivers and streams.

        From the NWS:
* At 02:15 PM Tuesday the stage was 12.2 feet and rising.
* Flood stage is 18 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast…Rise above flood stage by early Thursday morning and fall below shortly after.
* At 18 feet…Water begins to cross Mack Smith Road in Catoosa County, Georgia. Flooding begins at golf courses near the
confluence of South and West Chickamauga Creeks. West Chickamauga Creek begins to overflow its banks, as well.
