Habitat for Humanity dedicates home to local mom
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Another local mom has an extra reason to celebrate.
On Saturday, there was a home dedication for mother of three Latoya Little.
Little had been working with Habitat for Humanity, putting in two years and one month worth of “sweat equity” through the program to get the house.
Around 150 local Publix employees spent several weeks volunteering their help to get the affordable home together.
Those that know Little say everything she does is for her kids, and now she says her kids are so excited to each have their own room.
Little says going through the program taught her a whole lot, and proves she can achieve anything if she wants.
“It started out being kind of hard, but it just takes dedication and time. A lot of people think that habitat gives you a house. They don’t. You have to go out, you gotta do hours and you’ve got to work for it. And, I work for it. I mean I’m a hard working all the way around. And, I’m very appreciative of the gift that God gave me to own my own home. I don’t have to worry about my rent going to go up and down,” said Little.
This year Publix has donated millions of dollars to Habitat for Humanity in the Southeast.
This was Habitat’s 267th dedication of a house.
