Hit and Run victim’s body found Monday night on Lee Highway

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Traffic Investigators were called to the scene of a body found on Lee Highway Monday night.

Just before 9 pm, officials say a woman told police that she was driving south on Lee Highway and saw a shoe in the center turning lane and a body in the ditch.

EMS responded to the scene and confirmed that the victim was deceased.

The victim’s fanny pack and do-rag were found in the middle of the south bound travel lane.

Investigators believe that the victim was walking on Lee Highway and was struck by an unknown vehicle.

Police believe the suspect vehicle fled the scene.

Members of the Chattanooga Police Traffic Division are actively investigating the crash.

The victim has not been identified by police.
