Ice on the Landing is moving to Choo Choo

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Presents announces that they are moving “Ice on the Landing” this year.

The ice skating rink has become a seasonal institution at Ross’s Landing over the last couple of holiday seasons.

But this year, it is moving to the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

The Choo Choo is rennovating the Glenn Miller Gardens to fit the icerink.

This year, it will be narrower, but 40 feet longer than the one on the Riverfront.

They will also have new skates and equipment designed for the new space.

“Ice on the Landing has quickly become a Chattanooga winter tradition for novices and skilled skaters alike, and we are pleased to once again partner with Chattanooga Presents to make it happen,” said Scott Wilson, Head of Communications for Volkswagen Chattanooga, which sponsors the event. “I think the addition of ice skating to all the holiday activities on the Southside will make this the best year yet.”

Prices will remain the same, $10 for adults, and $8 for skaters aged 12 and under.

And even though they are leaving the landing, they will keep the name.

“We are extremely excited to be the home of Ice on the Landing. The family fun activity will add to the great Holiday setting at the Choo Choo, including the City’s largest indoor Christmas Tree and the most authentic Santa Claus. While changes needed to be made to the Gardens to hold the rink, we are happy to make them and we will now be able to hold larger events in the future.”
