Inn groundbreaking at Fall Creek Falls
FALL CREEK FALLS, Tennessee (WDEF) – It’s been awhile coming, but officials broke ground on Tuesday for new facilities at the Fall Creek Falls State Park.
Tennessee is building a new inn, restaurant and conference center for the popular park on the Cumberland Plateau above Pikeville.
“This reinvestment in Tennessee’s most famous state park is indicative of similar re-investments made from Memphis to Kingsport,” said Brock Hill, deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation.
“Over $175 million in capital reinvestment is already paying back dividends through increased visitation, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.”
The park has already seen renovation of cabins, swimming pool, a new playground area, and new irrigation for the golf course.
The new building will include three floors of visitor space, conference rooms and outdoor gathering spaces.
The restaurant will face Fall Creek Lake for the view.
Some fans of the park protested the state’s plan of demolishing the inn before the work could begin.
