Kennedy Center announces partnership with community and H.C.S.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga-Hamilton County area will now be collaborating with The John F. Kennedy Center for the Preforming Arts.

The Kennedy Center announced Tuesday that they have chosen our area as the 26th site for the Ensuring the Arts for Any Given Child program.

The center will be working with the community and Hamilton County Schools to create a long-term Arts Education Plan for students in grades K-8.

“Chattanooga is really going through a Renaissance. When you come here, it’s evident that this is really a arts rich city. And so all the pieces and tools were here. What needed to occur was a greater degree of communication and working together and to unleash those resources to the students. So we felt this community was one that is really ready to go,” Director of Schools and Community Programs Jeannette Mccune said.

In the coming weeks, News 12 will be taking this story even further by featuring it in “What’s Right With Our Schools.”
