Kids get to decide future at Piney Woods area playground

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Imagine getting the chance to design the playground of your dreams as a kid,some Piney Woods area kids get that chance.

Thanks to the Alton Park Development Corporation and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation.

Tuesday was the first design meeting to decide how to spend the 85-thousand dollar donation from BlueCross BlueShield.

Kids were invited to give their input on exactly what they want.

Dr. Elenora Woods serves as the Executive Director of the Alton Park Development Corporation. She said, “This is going to be a world class park. For people to come and enjoy their family time, recreation activity even people who are touring in the community. They’ll feel pleasure in coming out to this world class park. We are designing it today with what the kids want and what the parents want. So you’re going to see something incredible unfold in front of your eyes.”

The new playground is going up at the Chattanooga Civic Center at Mountainside.

That’s the former Piney Woods Elementary School.
