Knoxville man crashes plane on Cumberland Plateau

CROSSVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Knoxville man died this morning when he crashed his plane on the Cumberland Plateau in Cumberland Plateau.
Cumberland County authorities were alerted just before 8AM by Roane County 911 that the plane had gone down.
But the initial search was around the Rockwood airport.
The single engine plane belonged to a flight school Knoxville Downtown Island Home Airport.
The sheriff reports they found the wreckage Tuesday afternoon, but is not saying where.
They did find the body of 35 year old Vasile Ghelan from Knoxville at the site.
The plane had no flight plan and officials don’t know why the plane went down at this time.
