Local NAACP gathers for Ruby Hurley Image Awards

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The local chapter of the NAACP is working to make sure everyone in the community has a chance to grow.

Members gathered Thursday night for the annual Ruby Hurley Image Awards.

Organizers say Chattanooga faces a number of issues. Some of these issues include a need for good housing and better treatment in the work place.

NAACP member Quenston Coleman said, “The challenge is once we leave here, that we keep those people involved and active so that we can move forward and make Chattanooga truly one of the best cities in the South.”

The local chapter has also honored Martin Luther King the Third with an Image Award.
