Local Nepalis raise funds for earthquake survivors

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF)-A group of people from Nepal is raising money for the victims of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. 

They are standing at the corner of Market Street and the Aquarium holding signs for donations. 

"We are doing whatever we can to show our support to the Nepal people," said Nabin Shrestha, fundraiser. 

Shrestha described the situation in Nepal tragic, saying even food and water were scarce right now.

In total, 7,040 people have died from the 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Fifty-four foreigners are among those killed. At least 14,000 others were injured.
